Brig. Gen. (USA Ret.) Peter L. Jones and Robert “Bob” Alger, Director of Federal Systems at MatrixSpace | Dawn of Autonomy Episode #140

This week, the Dawn of Autonomy podcast continues “Tech for Mission Success” month, sponsored by Teal, with Brigadier General (Ret.) Peter L. Jones, Advisor at MatrixSpace, and Robert “Bob” Alger, Director of Federal Systems at MatrixSpace.

MatrixSpace develops intelligent sensing platforms that help organizations better understand and secure complex outdoor environments. By combining radar, optical, ADS-B, Remote ID, and other sensing technologies with distributed AI, the company enables teams to detect activity, assess potential threats, and make informed decisions with greater speed and confidence.

Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Peter L. Jones brings more than three decades of U.S. Army leadership experience to the conversation. Over his 32-year military career, he served in leadership and staff roles across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Afghanistan, including more than 48 months of combat deployments. He retired in 2017 as Commandant and Chief of Infantry at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, where he was responsible for building and sustaining the Army’s Infantry force.

Bob Alger leads MatrixSpace’s federal systems practice, supporting business development and systems engineering for domestic and allied defense partners. Before joining MatrixSpace, Bob began his career at SRC, Inc., where he supported the design, development, production, and maintenance of radar and electronic systems for air surveillance, counter-fire, and counter-UAS applications.

In this episode, Peter and Bob discuss the evolving operational demands facing defense and public-safety teams, the importance of persistent low-airspace awareness, and how multi-sensor systems can help identify and respond to increasingly complex airborne threats. They also explore how AI-enabled sensing and scalable counter-UAS capabilities can support the protection of critical infrastructure, military personnel, and other high-value sites.

Tune in to hear how MatrixSpace is advancing airspace intelligence for mission-critical operations—and why situational awareness, speed, and resilient sensing matter more than ever.
