Germany, 06.23.2026 – Green Flyway and MD Aircraft GmbH are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for cooperation to accelerate the development, testing, and implementation of electric aviation technologies and supporting infrastructure within the Green Flyway initiative. The agreement marks an important step toward strengthening sustainable regional air mobility in Northern Europe and supporting the transition to zero-emission aviation solutions.

 Advancing Sustainable Regional Connectivity

Mid-Scandinavia faces a growing need for resilient, low-emission transport solutions across dispersed communities. Electric aviation is recognized as a key enabler for improving regional connectivity, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing transport resilience.

The Green Flyway initiative aims to establish a leading Nordic testbed for electric aviation technologies, bringing together industry, public authorities, and research institutions to support innovation and real-world deployment.

Scope of Collaboration

Under the MoU, Green Flyway and MD Aircraft GmbH will collaborate on testbed activities, market development, and ecosystem building, and Engagement with regional stakeholders, including private sector partners, public authorities, and academic institutions. Green Flyway and MDA are committed to the advancement of the regional electric aviation ecosystem and contributing to the broader implementation of electric Regional Air Mobility solutions across Mid-Scandinavia and beyond.

About MD Aircraft GmbH

MD Aircraft GmbH is a German aerospace company dedicated to developing zero

emission, quiet, cost-efficient electric aircraft for Regional Air Mobility. MD Aircraft is part of the MD Group including MD Flugzeugbau GmbH and MD Composites

Technologies GmbH which has over 30 years’ experience designing, building, and

certifying composite aircraft – a decade with electric propulsion. MD Aircraft’s flagship program, the MDA1 eViator, will redefine regional air mobility. Initial flight tests are anticipated in 2028 with commercial certification and entry into service to follow

About Green Flyway

Green Flyway is a cross-border Interreg project between Sweden and Norway that brings together stakeholders in Östersund, Røros, and Trondheim in a unique international collaboration. The project develops and provides an international test arena for next-generation innovative air mobility, with a focus on electric aviation, drone technology, zero-emission solutions, and smart services for cargo and passenger transport.

Through its established test environments in Östersund and Røros, Green Flyway offers a unique opportunity to test and develop electric aviation under Arctic conditions. The test environment includes an operational test corridor in both controlled and uncontrolled civil airspace, access to challenging climatic conditions, low-density airspace with varied topography, and a fossil-free energy base in both Sweden and Norway. In addition, well-developed airport infrastructure provides excellent conditions for research, innovation, demonstration, and the commercialization of future sustainable air mobility solutions.
