The war in Ukraine has significantly increased European interest in Elbit Systems’ SkyStriker loitering munition, as regional militaries look to expand stocks of long-range precision strike systems tailored for contested airspace. Elbit has at least one confirmed major SkyStriker customer in Europe, but the country remains officially undisclosed.
The contract, valued at 95 million dollars, covers “several hundred” canister-launched SkyStriker systems over a two-year delivery period and is almost certainly linked to a non-NATO state in Eastern Europe, according to regional defense sources. The deal was announced in September 2023, and sources indicate that deliveries have already been completed.

SkyStriker is positioned for European users as a fully autonomous, electric-powered loitering munition with a two-hour endurance, a range of 100 km, and a 10 kg warhead, giving ground forces an organic precision-strike option without relying on larger, more vulnerable platforms. According to Elbit Systems, SkyStriker can locate, acquire, and strike operator-designated targets with a warhead installed inside the fuselage, enabling high-precision engagement against time-sensitive or high-value targets.
The munition’s electric propulsion provides a low acoustic signature for covert operations at low altitude, allowing SkyStriker to function as a silent, largely invisible surprise attacker in complex battlespaces. Elbit highlights that this combination of stealth and accuracy is intended to deliver a critical advantage on the modern battlefield, particularly where air defense systems are dense and dynamic.
Elbit also markets SkyStriker as a cost-effective loitering munition optimized for long-range, precise tactical strikes in support of maneuver units and special forces. By providing direct-fire, aerial-precision capabilities at the tactical edge, SkyStriker is designed to plug the gap between traditional artillery and higher-end strike assets, a requirement that has been underscored daily in Ukraine.
