Tel Aviv, Israel — Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) has officially revealed ARBEL, a state-of-the-art computerized fire control system designed to radically increase rifle accuracy and lethality, even under high-pressure battlefield conditions. Built to upgrade standard AR-15 assault rifles and light machine guns, the ARBEL system is generating significant international interest, including among several European defense forces.
Revolutionizing Infantry Firepower
ARBEL uses cutting-edge sensor technology and embedded computing to assist shooters with ultra-precise shot timing. The system delivers dramatically higher accuracy—especially for follow-up shots in rapid succession—by managing when rounds are fired after the initial trigger pull.
“When the weapon is in ARBEL mode, after the first shot, which is always under full operator control, the user simply holds the trigger while aiming. The system then controls subsequent shots, firing only when the weapon is optimally aligned, enabling rapid and accurate follow-up shots,” one of the experts explained.
This seamless human-machine pairing ensures the shooter retains full control during engagements, while the system enhances overall effectiveness in combat.
From Rifle to Personal Counter-Drone System
A standout feature of the ARBEL system is its counter-UAS capability, empowering infantry units to independently eliminate small aerial threats—without additional optics or platforms.
“The system can turn an assault rifle into a personal anti-drone system,” a source familiar with the development noted.
Equipped with day/night tracking performance and smart fire control logic, the ARBEL engages drones at an impressive range:
- Up to 450 meters in daylight
- Up to 250 meters at night
This gives forward-operating forces much-needed standoff protection against low-cost, weaponized drones—now common in asymmetric warfare.
Raising International Demand
IWI confirms that the ARBEL has already drawn attention from foreign military customers, particularly in Europe, where ground forces are seeking modular solutions to evolving battlefield threats.
“A very advanced aiming system for assault rifles and light machine guns developed by Israeli Weapon Industries (IWI) has generated great interest in the world, including in some European defence forces,” noted one observer.
As commercial and military drone threats rise, compact fire control solutions like ARBEL are destined to play a major role in both urban warfare scenarios and border defense missions.
